Gladys Edith Porter

	Gladys Edith Porter, 87, of Centralia, formerly of Elkville, passed away at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at the Fireside Manor in Centralia.
	Gladys was a retired seamstress from Forrest City Garment Co.  She was a member of the First Christian Church in DuQuoin and a member of the DeSoto Eastern Star and the White Shrine.  She was a graduate of DuQuoin High School.
	She was born December 15, 1913 at DuQuoin, the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Woods) Hartley.  She married Howard Allen Porter on January 17, 1932 at Carmi and he preceded her in death in 1984.
	 She is survived by a son, Melbourne Lee Porter and wife Sandra of Illiopolis, daughter, Carolyn Jane Wilson of Centralia; seven grandchildren, leanne Stephens and toni Flexter of Illiopolis, Greg Porter of Arnold, Mo., Brett and Allen Wilson and Robin Gormann of Centralia and Johna Albritton of Louisville, Ky.; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
	She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Andrew Hartley and two sisters, Jessie Rice and Linda Campbell.
	Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4 at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin with Bro. Jerry Aken officiating.
	 Friends alled from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Searby Funeral Home in DuQuoin.  
	Interment was in the Elkville Cemetery.
	Friends may make memorials to the First Christian Church of DuQuoin or the Elkville Christian Church.
	 The Porter family would like to thank the Fireside Nursing Home in Centralia for the wonderful and loving care given to Gladys.
